FIELD: wood chemical industry.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used in the wood chemical industry for the production of charcoal used in metallurgy. The method for producing charcoal includes drying wood raw materials and its pyrolysis. Tree trunks 24 with a length from 2 m to 11 m and a diameter from 0.04 m to 0.3 m are used as wood raw materials, which are loaded into container 3. Container 3 is moved into drying chamber 2 and dried at a temperature of 35-95°C until the trunk humidity reaches no more than 20%. When drying, the coolant is moistened with water vapour. Upon completion of drying, the container is moved into pyrolysis chamber 1 and pyrolysis is carried out at a temperature from 250 to 550°C. The coolant for drying and pyrolysis is produced by burning gas produced by thermal gas generators. Liquid and gaseous products formed during pyrolysis are burned in chamber furnaces 5, 6, pyrolysis chambers 1 and drying chambers 2. A complex for producing charcoal has also been proposed.

EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to obtain charcoal of large size and high strength for the smelting of high-quality cast iron and steel, to reduce energy consumption and harmful consequences for the environment during its production.
