FIELD: radio measurements.
SUBSTANCE: determine the level of nonlinear distortions introduced into test signals by the devices under study. In particular, the invention can be used to control the quality of amplifiers for various purposes, characterized by low nonlinear distortions. The method involves preliminary determination of the noise level at the output of the device under study that introduces distortion, setting the threshold for amplitude filtering of harmonics based on the noise level, generating a test signal, determining the spectrum of the signal after passing through the device under study, and calculating the average attenuation of the nonlinearity in the frequency band. The numerical indicator of distortion is a two-component vector. Options of the method differ in measurement procedures related to obtaining the average level of harmonics - spectral components obtained by decomposing the signal under study.
EFFECT: increasing the information content of the process for determining nonlinear distortions by obtaining a two-component assessment of nonlinear distortions, taking into account both the total volume of appearing harmonics and the width of their spectrum.
