FIELD: railway transport.
SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic testing of rails. A flaw detection tool with electroacoustic transducers with different directions of emission-reception is installed on the rails, sounding individual zones along the height of the rail, the transducers are jointly moved along the rail, periodically emit ultrasonic probing signals into the controlled rail by all channels, receive and record the reflected signals from possible defects and regular structural elements of the rails of the same type, evaluate the parameters of the signals, while for each zone of the rail a structural element is selected, the signals from which are used as a reference reflector, the integral characteristics of the signals from a series of reference reflectors are determined and averaged, the ratios between the integral characteristics of the signals from the reference reflectors and from the desired defects of the rails, on the basis of these ratios, adaptive thresholds for detecting signals from defects in the corresponding channels of the flaw detection tool are set. In a particular case, one type of rail structural element is chosen as reference reflectors, which generates the most stable signals in the process of rail control.
EFFECT: increased reliability of rail testing while simplifying ultrasonic testing of rails.
