FIELD: railways.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for detecting and evaluating rail welded joints in high-speed inspection. The substance of the invention lies in the fact that the search system containing one or more electroacoustic transducers is moved along the rails at variable speed, ultrasonic sounding pulses are periodically emitted into the controlled rails, the ultrasonic bottom signals reflected from the rail foot are received, they are recorded on the defectogram and their parameters are evaluated, at the same time, at known speeds of movement, the expected range of parameters of the rail sections with attenuation of the amplitudes of the bottom signals is preliminarily determined and set for each speed.
EFFECT: increasing the reliability and reliability of non-destructive testing of rails.
