FIELD: floristry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the preservation of cut flowers. A method of extending the vase life of cut flowers involves watering by immersing the cut flowers in an aqueous solution of sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC), storing the watered cut flowers at the room temperature or in the refrigerator for 2 to 36 hours, and then irradiating the cut flowers. The concentration of aqueous sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) solution ranges from 10 ppm to 200 ppm. Immersion lasts from 1 hour to 10 hours. Irradiation is carried out at a dose of 100 Gy to 300 Gy with any radiation from electron beams, X-rays and gamma rays. Storage in the refrigerator is carried out at a temperature of 1°C to 10°C.
EFFECT: proposed method of extending the life of cut flowers in a vase improves the condition of cut flowers, prolongs flowering and improves the quality of the bud.
