SUBSTANCE: method intended to predict the risk of progression of diabetic retinopathy (DR) in pregnant women with diabetes mellitus. The method includes performing optical coherence tomography of the anterior segment of the eye in each trimester of pregnancy. Optical coherence tomography is carried out in the projection of the ciliary body with the direction of the scanning beam perpendicular to 3 mm from the limbus. The study is carried out at 3 and 9 hours. If an increase in the thickness of the vascular layer of the ciliary body is detected by 10% or more at 1 or more points compared to the study conducted in the first trimester of pregnancy, the development of progression of diabetic retinopathy is predicted.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of predicting the risk of progression of diabetic retinopathy in pregnant women with diabetes due to an objective predictor of prognostic assessment of the course of DR - the threshold value of changes in the thickness of the vascular layer of the ciliary body from the initial value.
