FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for diagnosing diabetic retinopathy (DR) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Wide-field capillaroscopy of the nail bed is performed in the patients with diabetes mellitus with analyzing the results of the examination by blood flow velocity in the arterial section (Rate art.). If the Rate art value is less than or equal to 451 mcm/s, the proliferative stage of DR is diagnosed, if Rate art is less than or equal to 512 mcm/s, but more than 451 mcm/s, the non-proliferative stage of DR is diagnosed, if the Rate art value is more than 512 mcm/s, the absence of DR is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method enables extending the range of products for diagnosing DR for the purpose of timely preventive action and prescribing adequate treatment.
