FIELD: absorbent structures.

SUBSTANCE: absorbent structures and methods for their manufacture are disclosed. In one embodiment, the absorbent structure may comprise first and second layers of support material and a mixture of superabsorbent particles and adhesive placed between the first and second layers of support material. The superabsorbent particles can be placed in an amount of more than 400 g/m2, and the adhesive can be placed in an amount less than 5% by weight of the weight of the superabsorbent particles, and the adhesive forms a three-dimensional lattice network containing adhesive threads in a grid with the superabsorbent particles fixed inside lattice mesh, and the mesh adhesive strands pass essentially through a three-dimensional space formed by the mesh adhesive strands and the superabsorbent particles.
