SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is related to an aerosol-generating device, a method for dispensing an aerosol-generating product, and an aerosol-generating system. The aerosol-generating device contains a heating element, a dispensing device assembly containing a cutting mechanism located in the cutting area and configured to cut a part from the aerosol-generating product located in the aerosol-generating device, and a transport mechanism configured to transport the cut part of the aerosol generating product, from the cutting area to the heating element. The cutting mechanism comprises a punching knife having a hollow core surrounded by a blade, or a first blade with a first cutting direction and a second blade with a second cutting direction, or a blade array.

EFFECT: provides the ability to accurately dose the aerosol-generating substrate per puff or per session.
