SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is related to aerosol-generating systems for inhalation and to aerosol-generating kits for inhalation. The aerosol-generating system for inhalation includes an optical sensor located on a portion of the outer surface of the aerosol-generating system. The optical sensor is configured to output sensor data. Further, the system that generates aerosol for inhalation contains a controller functionally connected to an optical sensor. The controller is configured to control the operating parameter of the aerosol-generating element of the aerosol-generating system based on optical sensor data. The optical sensor is configured to communicate optically with packaging for aerosol-generating articles, and the controller is configured to control an operating parameter of an aerosol-generating element of the aerosol-generating system based on the colour of the packaging determined by the optical sensor. The aerosol-generating system further comprises an aerosol-generating device and a charging unit configured to charge and dispose of the aerosol-generating device between uses. The optical sensor is located on the outer surface of the charging block.
EFFECT: detection of the colour, appearance or design of an aerosol-generating system for inhalation.
