SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used for the treatment and/or prevention of Alzheimer's disease. The following is proposed: the use of an agent for regulating the relative abundance of intestinal microbes for the production of a medicinal product for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease in an individual, wherein the intestinal microbes are selected from one or more of the following: Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Proteobacteria, Actinomycetes, Fusobacteria, Cyanobacteria, Verrucomicrobia, or a combination thereof, and where the agent makes the relative abundance of intestinal microbes in an individual close to or approaching the relative abundance of the corresponding intestinal microbes in a corresponding normal individual. Also the following is provided: a method of screening a drug candidate that can be used to treat Alzheimer's disease, a method of creating an animal model for Alzheimer's disease, and a method of treating a patient having Alzheimer's disease.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides a new strategy for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease by interfering with the brain-gut axis.
