FIELD: hydroacoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in noise direction finding stations with antennas spaced apart in the horizontal plane to solve problems of passively determining the coordinates of an object generating noise at sea, namely, bearing, distance, immersion depth and elevation angle of an object generating noise at sea. The method includes determining the speed of sound propagation in water, receiving signals from noisy marine objects at antennas spaced apart in the horizontal plane and located in space with known coordinates. Pre-processing of received signals involves orienting the directional characteristics of the antennas in the direction of the expected location of the radiation source. Next, the cross-correlation function of the signals received by two antennas is determined, the time delays between the arrival of signals at these antennas in the cross-correlation function are measured, the autocorrelation functions of the signals received by each of the two antennas is determined, the time delays between the arrival of signals propagating along the direct path and path reflected from the sea surface, to each of the two antennas in the autocorrelation functions, are measured. Based on the measured values of time delays in the autocorrelation and cross-correlation functions, the speed of sound propagation in water and the known coordinates of the antennas, the bearing, distance, immersion depth and elevation angle of a noisy sea object are determined.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of measurement by two horizontally spaced antennas of bearing, distance, immersion depth and elevation angle of an object generating noise at sea.
