FIELD: hydroacoustic technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to solve the problems of passively determining the coordinates of an object in the sea emitting noise, namely: distance and depth during the propagation of hydroacoustic signals in the sea. In the method the coefficient of correlation is used to calculate intensities of the correlation maxima, which, on the one hand, are measured in the cross-correlation functions of the received signal, calculated for each tier of the fan of directivity characteristics in the vertical plane relative to two tiers of signal reception with the maximum signal-to-interference ratio, and, on the other hand, are calculated for each point of the area of possible location of an object emitting noise in the sea in the “distance-depth” space using the calculated energy structure of the signal for the corresponding pairs of tiers, which in most cases eliminates the ambiguity in estimating the location of an object emitting noise in the sea that arises when using delays of correlation maxima, and consequently, increases the accuracy of determining its coordinates.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of determining the coordinates of an object emitting noise in the sea.
