FIELD: hydroacoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to determine the distance and depth of immersion of individual targets in case when there may be several sources of noise in one direction that cannot be separated by the viewing angle. The method is based on receiving a hydroacoustic noise signal by a hydroacoustic antenna, calculating the autocorrelation function of the signal, followed by determining a set of time delays between paired beams, and determining the distance and depth of immersion of the observed target based on the delay analysis. When implementing the method, the set of measured delays is divided into groups belonging to separate single targets.
EFFECT: possibility of applying the claimed method under conditions when an unknown number of targets may be present in one direction. In this case, the method determines the coordinates for each of the single targets, the signals of which are mixed.
