FIELD: smoking accessories.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol-generating system having a rechargeable power supply. Aerosol-generating system comprises an aerosol-generating device and a charger. Aerosol-generating device is a device for consuming the aerosol-generating article and comprises a heating element and a rechargeable power supply for powering said heating element. Charger is a device for connection to an aerosol-generating device for recharging a power supply and cleaning a heating element, in which the controller is located either in the aerosol-generating device, or in a charging device to determine when said device has passed a predetermined number of operating cycles. System is configured so that a user cannot consume more than a predetermined amount of aerosol-generating articles without cleaning the heating element. Charging device has a cover, wherein the heating element cannot be used when the aerosol-generating device is connected to the charging device while the aerosol-generating device is closed in the charging device by means of the said cover.
EFFECT: providing reliable and efficient charging of the secondary device.
