FIELD: radar engineering.
SUBSTANCE: used in single-position surveillance radars, as well as in synthetic aperture antenna radars (SAR) that evaluate the polarization properties of sounded objects. In the method for estimating the complex matrix of back scatter of radar objects, the complex envelopes of the orthogonal polarization components of the emitted pulsed radio signal are identical up to the absolute phase and are described by the function, the phase of any one of the components of the emitted vector radio signal is manipulated, from pulse to pulse, in accordance with the binary random function P(t), which takes TC =n at the synthesis period⋅ T0 one of two equally probable values: -1 or 1 and determining equally probable phase values of 0 or 180 degrees of the manipulated component, signals are generated by filtering components coordinated with the function accordingly, they generate signals and element ratings of backscattering matrices of an object located in a range resolution element are formed, respectively, by trajectory processing of time sequences of n samples of signal values, taken from each of n sequentially emitted probing pulses in the range strobe corresponding to the resolution element. n is the number of probing periods in the synthesis interval.
EFFECT: evaluating the complex matrix of back scatter (CMBS) of radar objects under real conditions of observing them in SAR, without reducing the viewing speed compared to conventional, non-polarimetric SAR, and with increased accuracy of CMBS estimation.
