FIELD: measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to measure the level and interfaces of media in various industries, in particular, to measure the coolant level in tanks of various power plants. The level gauge comprises a measuring probe 1, a transceiver 2, and a measurement and signal processing unit 3. The measuring probe 1 is made in the form of a section of a coaxial transmission line, comprising a housing 4 and an internal conductor in the form of a metal rod 5. The measuring probe 1 comprises an inhomogeneity in the form of a coaxial single extended protrusion 6, the initial and final faces of which act as reference marks. The length t of the protrusion 6 in the direction of propagation of the probing signal is selected from the condition: t≥, whereλ is the wavelength of the probing signal.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of measuring the level of the liquid medium.
