FIELD: agriculture; horticulture.
SUBSTANCE: method involves determining the concentration of indolylacetic acid in apple tissues. As apple tree tissue, seeds of fruits of pomological test and reference large-fruited apple tree varieties are used, in which in the year of harvest, in the “fruit growth” phase, the concentrations of indole acetic acid are determined and compared. If the concentration of indolylacetic acid in the seeds of the fruit of the tested apple tree variety is equal to or higher than the concentration of indolylacetic acid in the seeds of the fruit of the reference large-fruited apple tree variety, the tested apple tree variety is classified as large-fruited.
EFFECT: method provides accelerated selection of large-fruited apple tree varieties.
