FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: used for preparing a charge before smelting ferrotitanium or titanium alloys, namely for cleaning titanium alloy chips from organic contaminants. The method involves processing titanium alloy shavings placed in a water bath at a water temperature of 20 to 45°C, ultrasound with a frequency of 35 to 45 kHz and a specific power of 46 to 60 W/liter of water.
EFFECT: cleaning chips of any size from titanium alloys from organic contaminants makes it possible to effectively and safely remelt them to produce ferrotitanium or titanium alloys.
