SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a method for controlling an olefin polymerization reactor system and includes a) selecting n input variables, each input variable corresponding to a technological condition of the olefin polymerization process; b) defining m output variables, each output variable corresponding to a measurable property of the polymer; c) adjusting one or more of the n input variables in a plurality of polymerization reactions using an olefin polymerization reactor system to produce a plurality of olefin polymers and measuring each of the m output variables as a function of the input variables for each olefin polymer; d) analysing the change in each of the output variables as a function of the input variables to determine the coefficients; f) calculating a response surface model (RSM) using general equations for each output variable defined in step d) to correlate any combination of n input variables with one or more of m output variables; f) applying the n selected input variables to the calculated response surface model (RSM) to predict one or more of the m target output variables, each target output variable corresponding to a measurable property of the polymer; and g) applying n selected input variables Isl - Isn to operate the olefin polymerization reactor system and produce a polyolefin product. The invention is also related to an embodiment of a method for controlling an olefin polymerization reactor system.
