FIELD: ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for fixing an intraocular lens with an amputated haptic to the iris. To do this, microinvasive phacoemulsification of the cataract is performed and an elastic intraocular lens (IOL) is implanted into the posterior chamber of the eye. Before IOL implantation, 3/4 of the haptics are amputated. The remaining 1/4 of the supporting elements of the intraocular lens are stitched and fixed to the iris 3-4 mm from the pupillary edge at 6 and 12 o'clock with 2 interrupted sutures.

EFFECT: invention allows to avoid traumatization of the ciliary body, the iridociliary groove, the iris when the IOL is in the posterior chamber due to absence of a traumatic moment when inserting, positioning and centring the haptic elements of the IOL in the posterior chamber, reducing the vertical size of the IOL, the stable position of the IOL in the projection of the pupil during fixation with 2 seams, and also allows to avoid sliding of the fixing thread along the haptics, due to stitching the remaining 1/4 of the supporting elements of the lens.
