FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for the production of aminotrimethylenephosphonic acid (ATMPA) (nitrilotrimethylenephosphonic acid (NTMPA)). A method of production of aminotrimethylenephosphonic acid is presented, characterized by the following: the said acid is obtained by treating the reaction mixture with benzene at the temperature range of 80–92°C, at the following ratios of components, wt. %: ammonium chloride 12.60÷9.47, phosphorous acid 46.33÷46.47, paraformaldehyde 16.95÷17.00, hydrogen chloride 3.91÷4.53, water 11.87÷11.48, benzene 8.34÷11.05.
EFFECT: use of the invention provides a simple, cost-effective, controlled method of obtaining the target aminotrimethylenephosphonic acid.
