FIELD: analytical chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of the separate determination of sorbic and benzoic acids in the aqueous phase after extraction of an aqueous-salt solution of sorbic and benzoic acids with a solution of poly-N-vinylformamide is disclosed, the said method includes the preparation of an aqueous-salt solution of sorbic and benzoic acids, extraction and analysis of the equilibrium aqueous phase, while preparing an aqueous-saline solution of sorbic and benzoic acids with concentrations of 0.045 g/cm3 and 0.01 g/cm3, respectively, containing the salting out agent ammonium sulfate in a solution of 20–25% by weight, extracted for 15–20 minutes at a temperature of 25±1°C using a solution of poly-N-vinylformamide with a concentration of 0.3 g/cm3, with a volume ratio of an aqueous-salt solution of sorbic and benzoic acids and polymer of 10:3, separating the aqueous phase from the organic phase and centrifuging it for 10 minutes at 5,000 rpm, determining the content of sorbic and benzoic acids in the aqueous phase after extraction by electrophoretic method with UV detection, calculating the distribution coefficients D and the degree of extraction R (%) of sorbic and benzoic acids.

EFFECT: invention provides for the development of a method of separate electrophoretic determination of sorbic and benzoic acids with UV detection, selective determination of each component of the mixture, and 98% extraction of sorbic and benzoic acids from an aqueous solution without the use of any harmful organic solvents.
