FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of obtaining potassium salts of 12-sulfodehydroabietic acid. The method is carried out by treating an aqueous solution of 12-sulfodehydroabietic acid with potassium hydroxide at a molar ratio of 1:(1-2.2). The reaction mixture is heated without bringing to a boil and sonicated for 5–20 minutes until the reagents are completely dissolved. The resulting mass is cooled and air dried.
EFFECT: method allows to increase the yield of target products and reduce the duration of synthesis.
