FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: to obtain a powder based on chromium diboride, chromium and amorphous boron powders are used at an atomic ratio of 1: (2-2.1), which are mixed in a ball mill for 15 minutes. The mixture is placed on the bottom of the first graphite glass, which is the cathode, the walls and bottom of which are pre-coated with graphite paper. The first graphite beaker is covered with a graphite lid and placed on the bottom of a second larger graphite beaker. Between the graphite cover of the first graphite glass and a solid graphite rod, which is the anode, a direct current arc discharge is generated in an air environment by contacting the graphite rod with the graphite cover at a current of 200 A. Then the anode is pulled vertically upward, forming a discharge gap from 0.1 to 0.8 mm, and maintaining the arc discharge for 60 s. After the cathode has cooled to room temperature, the finished product is removed from its cavity, and the graphite paper is disposed of.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to carry out the process in an air environment and reduce the time for obtaining the powder.
