SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in assessing the prognosis of the risk of death in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Spirometry is performed to assess post-bronchodilation values of AVF1. Next, spirometry is repeated after three years with an assessment of post-bronchodilation values of AVF1. Based on the obtained FEV1 indicators, the dynamics of pulmonary function over three years is calculated. Then, based on the obtained dynamics indicator, taking into account the frequency of exacerbations and the patient’s age, the probability of developing a fatal outcome (P) is calculated according to a given formula.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to assess the probability of death in patients with COPD using routine examination methods without the use of any invasive procedures by assessing the totality of the most significant indicators.
