FIELD: medicine; pulmonology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict progressive bronchial obstruction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The single nucleotide polymorphism rs11562975 of the TRPM8 gene is genotyped. The post-bronchodilation forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1b) is measured. The frequency of exacerbations of COPD in the previous year (PR) is determined. The testing on the questionnaire COPD Assessment Test (CAT) is performed. The value of F is calculated by the following formula (1): F = -5.20318 + 0.89733× rs11562975 + 0.05320× FEV1b + 0.67048× PR + 0.15464× CAT. The probability of progressive bronchial obstruction is calculated using the following formula: P = 1/(1 + e-F), where F is the value of the function calculated by formula (1). At P≥0.71, a high risk of progressive bronchial obstruction is predicted. At P<0.71, a low risk of disease progression is predicted.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to predict the progression of bronchial obstruction in COPD patients in the European population by using an original calculation formula that takes into account genotyping data, FEV1b values, exacerbation frequency and symptom severity according to the CAT test.
