FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns a method for determining the adhesion of asphalt concrete to ice. The test sample of asphalt concrete is clamped in two halves of a split cylinder, followed by installation of a permanent cylinder on the separation line. Water is poured into the one-piece cylinder and placed in the freezer; after some time has elapsed, the sample is placed in a testing machine that provides force along the longitudinal axis of a pair of cylinders in the ice-asphalt concrete system; the force is applied until the asphalt concrete sample is separated from the cylinder with ice. The force is found at which ice breaks with asphalt concrete, indicated by the digital value of the force meter of the breaking machine, followed by determination of the force applied per 1 cm2.
EFFECT: ability to determine the adhesion forces of ice to asphalt concrete under axial tension and shear.
