FIELD: railway transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the retractable steps of passenger cars. The vehicle step includes a housing, a block of steps placed in the housing in the transport position and configured to extend from the housing to the working position. The block of steps contains a channel that defines the trajectory of movement with curved, inclined and horizontal sections. Inside the channel there is a carriage containing a shaped groove and made with the possibility of horizontal movement inside the channel. Inside the inclined part of the channel that sets the trajectory of movement there is a lower retractable stage connected to the carriage by rigid links. The connection between the lower retractable step, the rigid links and the carriage is hinged. The housing contains a shaped groove, inside of which there is a switch roller pivotally connected to the step block. Another switch roller is positioned to move inside the shaped groove of the carriage.

EFFECT: increase in passenger safety is achieved.
