FIELD: pharmaceutical industry; medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of treating radiation exposure. A method of treating radiation exposure in an individual who has been or will be exposed to radiation, comprising administering to the individual a pharmaceutical composition containing from 1 mg/kg to 30 mg/kg of an amount of a compound of formula I, a compound of formula II, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a combination thereof:
where R is either -P(O)(OH)2 or -P(O) (OR1) (OR2); R1 represents either H or -C1-26 alkyl; and R2 represents -C1-26 alkyl; R3 represents H, -C(O)-ZN(R4)(R5), -C(O)ZC(O)-OH or -C(O)-NH-Y-CH2-OC(O )-ZC(O)-OH; Z represents C1-6 alk; Y represents arylene; R4 represents either H or C1-6 alkyl; R5 represents either H or C1-6 alkyl; or R4 and R5 together with the nitrogen to which they are attached form heterocycloalkyl; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
EFFECT: above method is effective for treating radiation exposure in an individual who has been or will be exposed to radiation.
