SUBSTANCE: invention relates in particular to sealing technology and can be used to seal cylindrical rotating surfaces. The shaft seal consists of an O-ring mounted in a housing groove. The sealing ring is an elastic polymer ring with flat end surfaces. A cylindrical protrusion is made on the outer cylindrical surface of the ring. On the inner surface of the ring there is a protrusion with a hydrodynamic sealing surface, one of the ends of which is made flat and coincides with the end surface of the ring, and the other end is made wavy and rounded with the hydrodynamic sealing surface. The diameter of the hydrodynamic sealing surface is equal to the diameter of the shaft, and the sealing ring is pressed against the shaft due to the fact that the diameter of the groove is smaller than the diameter of the cylindrical protrusion on the outer cylindrical surface of the sealing ring. The wave height of the wavy end of the sealing ring is made in the range from 1 to 2 mm, the wave length of the wavy end is made in the range from 10 to 30 mm, while the circumference of the hydrodynamic sealing surface is a multiple of the wave length, and the number of waves is at least 2.

EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of the shaft seal, increasing its service life and ensuring its tightness throughout the entire service life.
