FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: remote determination of the location of a short circuit on a power line consists of measuring time-synchronized instantaneous voltage values from both ends of the power line, determining the phase voltage vectors, determining the distance to the short circuit from the calculated vectors of the damaged phase, obtaining time-synchronized instantaneous values of the phase derivatives currents, using synchronized vector measurement devices synchronized with the unified time system, determine voltage vectors and vectors of derivative phase currents from both ends of the line, using a synchronized vector data concentrator, collect and transmit the specified synchronized vector measurements to determine distance using specialized software to the point of short circuit.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of remote determination of the location of a short circuit on power lines under operating voltage.
