FIELD: medicine; neurosurgery.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for surgical management of type I Chiari malformation in children. Method consists in performing craniovertebral bone decompression, wherein the edges of the enlarged greater occipital foramen are processed by a cutter under the surgical microscope so that the outer and inner plates of the compact bone substance so that the diploic layer of the bone protrudes into the wound edge. Superficial layer of dura mater is dissected, separated and sutured to muscular-aponeurotic layer. An internal layer of the dura mater is deflated by a blunt method under a surgical microscope.
EFFECT: method provides prevention of development of complications in postoperative period and tightness of occipital cistern of brain due to reduction of risk of bone spines formation in place of greater occipital foramen.
