SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a manually operated printer, a method for controlling a manually operated printer, a method for preparing a manually operated printer for printing an image on a plurality of stripes using the said method, and computer software products using the said methods. A method for controlling a manually operated printer (3), comprising: detecting the lateral movement of the manually operating printer (3) after completion of the first strip (1), comparing the lateral distance travelled by the lateral movement with a predetermined lateral distance (11) between the specified the first strip (1) and the second strip (2), and outputting a lateral movement stop signal when the lateral distance travelled by the lateral movement reaches a predetermined lateral distance (11).
