METHOD OF LAND RECLAMATION IN PERMAFROST ZONE Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC E02B13/00 A01G25/00 A01B79/00

Abstract RU 2813788 C1

FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: reclamation of agricultural lands in the permafrost zone (permafrost zone), and can be used to prevent manifestation of thermokarst in the presence of ice inclusions or ice soils in the zone of thermal influence of the surface. The method of land reclamation in the permafrost zone involves moistening the active layer of soil and reducing the depth of thawing by a given amount, eliminating the thawing of ice inclusions and ice soils in the zone of thermal influence of the surface. To do this, in the summer, when haymaking begins, grass is mowed and evenly distributed over the reclaimed area, after which the reclaimed area is flooded with water, with a layer thickness determined by a specially obtained formula. Mown grass prevents active evaporation of water, which moistens the active layer of soil. After soil absorbs water, the mown grass serves as additional thermal resistance, preventing active thawing of the soil. After the onset of negative atmospheric temperatures, the dried grass is removed. This contributes to more intense cooling of the active layer soils in the autumn-winter period. The next year, after wetting, the depth of soil thawing decreases, and the soil temperature within the zone of thermal influence of the surface decreases. With each subsequent year, this process continues until thermal processes reach a quasi-stationary level.

EFFECT: ability to reduce the depth of soil thawing in the reclaimed area to a given value and to avoid manifestations of thermokarst and progressive soil erosion in areas of underground ice and ice soils in the zone of thermal influence of the earth's surface.
