FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular to reclamation of agricultural lands of cryolite zone, and can be used to prevent development of thermokarst and restoration of lands disturbed by thermokarst in the presence of ice inclusions or ice soils in the zone of thermal effect of the surface. Method includes compaction of snow cover throughout the entire surface of the site in winter. After snow is compacted, it is irrigated with water over the entire surface of the reclaimed area. At the same time snow compaction and irrigation of the site are carried out annually, until the specified depth of the active soil layer on the reclaimed area is achieved. Volume of water used for irrigation of one square metre of the area of the reclaimed land plot is determined from the mathematical expression: V = knH – 0.001ρh, m3, where V is the volume of water for irrigation of a unit of the area of the reclaimed land, m3; H is natural depth of soil thawing at the site before the beginning of development, m; k is coefficient of soil pore space filling with water, DQ; n is coefficient of porosity of thawed soil, DQ; ρ is density of snow, kg/m3; h is thickness of compacted snow layer, m.

EFFECT: method ensures reduction of soil thawing depth on the reclaimed area, reduction of frozen soil temperature in the zone of thermal effect of the surface and prevention of development of thermokarst processes on the reclaimed territory.
