FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular, to reclamation of agricultural lands, and can be used to improve moistening of fertile soil layer in spring during melting of snow cover. In the winter period, after the snow falls, the snow cover is compacted, after which it is additionally perforated through the entire thickness to the ground surface. Number and radius of perforation holes is determined from the obtained mathematical expression, which relates the number of holes per unit area of the surface of the snow cover with their radius, snow cover compaction coefficient and snow density before reclamation works. Perforation of compacted snow cover allows providing additional moistening of fertile soil layer in spring, as well as reducing moisture loss due to reduction of evaporation processes from water surface formed above ice during snow melting. In addition, the process of thawing snow cover and surface layer of soil itself is much faster – due to the absence of heat losses for heating and evaporation of water, which flows down through perforation channels and promotes accelerated thawing and moistening of soil.
EFFECT: method of winter land reclamation provides reduction of moisture loss contained in snow cover during snow melting and intensification of moisture absorption by fertile soil layer.
