FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: sensor (1) for detecting pressure of a fluid medium comprises sensor housing (2), which comprises at least one first housing part (3) and one second housing part (4), each of which has a first facet and a second facet opposite to each other .First part (3) of the body and second part (4) of the body are connected to each other so that the first face of first part (3) of the body faces the first face of second part (4) of the body at a distance from it. At least one of first part (3) of the housing and second part (4) of the housing contains membrane part (7) subject to elastic bending or deformation towards the other one of first part (3) of the housing and second part (4) of the housing in as a result of fluid pressure, wherein membrane part (7) defines first face of first part (3) of housing or second part (4) of housing. Pressure sensor (1) has circuit device (8, 10), which is supported by sensor housing (2) and which contains at least one first electric circuit (10), which passes at least partially in area corresponding to membrane part (7), and is configured to detect its elastic bending or deformation by means of at least one corresponding detection component (R1, R2, R4). First electric circuit (10) is connected to the first face of one of first part (3) of the housing and second part (4) of the housing, and the first face of the other one of first part (3) of the housing and second part (4) of the housing forms or has at least one circuit element (20) connected to it, previously intended for interaction with the first electric circuit (10), when the elastic bending or deformation of membrane part (7) has a degree at least substantially equal to a predetermined limit, in order to generate thereby information or warning, representing at least one of excess pressure of fluid medium, incorrect measurement of pressure and abnormal state of the device.

EFFECT: reduction of detection errors due to the possibility of accurately distinguishing when the pressure of the detected fluid medium exceeds the upper limit of the nominal operating range of the sensor.
