FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining mass of uncontrolled losses of hydrocarbons. Method of determining the mass of unregulated losses of hydrocarbons through seals of devices, pipelines and pipeline valves involves counting the total number of seals. Further, the leakage value through one seal is multiplied by the total number of seals and their fraction that have lost their tightness. Actual number of seals that have lost their tightness is established experimentally using instrumental search. Value of each individual leakage through the seal is determined from the concentration of hydrocarbons in the leakage plume and the loss coefficient, and the total mass of unregulated losses of hydrocarbons through the seals is calculated by the formula.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of determination of mass of unregulated losses of hydrocarbons through seals of devices, pipelines and pipeline valves.
