FIELD: chemistry; non-ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of scandium-containing concentrate with high content of scandium from mineral raw material. Method includes sulfuric acid treatment of mineral raw material containing scandium, separation of unreacted residue, extraction of scandium compounds with organophosphorus extractants, re-extraction of scandium and deposition of sparingly soluble scandium compounds with subsequent thermal treatment. Re-extraction of scandium is carried out with aqueous 0.75–1.5 molar solution of oxyethylidene diphosphonic acid, containing 10–20 wt.% of sulphate or 0.5–2 wt.% of ammonium hydroxide, with ratio of extractant: re-extractant 1:(1–5) and temperature of 25–90 °C. Precipitation of sparingly soluble scandium compounds is carried out with calcium or magnesium oxide or their mixture at ratio of precipitation agent: re-extraction solution of 1:(10–50). Formed precipitate is calcined to obtain a scandium concentrate at temperature of 700–1,100 °C for 2–4 hours.
EFFECT: higher environmental friendliness due to rejection of toxic fluorides.
