FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrochemical synthesis of high-purity carbide powders in molten salts, and can be used in production of refractory and solid materials. Method includes obtaining a powdered mixture containing a niobium-containing component, soot and an auxiliary additive, with subsequent heat treatment at temperature of 800–850 °C for 7.5–8.0 hours in an argon atmosphere, washing and drying. Niobium-containing component used is niobium metal, and the auxiliary additive used is a mixture (K2NbF7+NaCl+NaF), taken in ratio, wt.%: K2NbF7 : NaCl : NaF = 5–10 : 80–90 : 5–10. Initial charge contains components in the following ratio, wt.%: niobium metal: soot: (K2NbF7+NaCl+NaF) = 17.7–18.3 : 1.7–2.3 : 80.
EFFECT: narrow distribution of size of obtained particles, simplification of technology due to reduction of temperature and reduction of duration, as well as absence of additional operations.
