FIELD: microwave engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates in particular to filters. A tunable band-stop waveguide filter consisting of a metal housing including a section of a rectangular waveguide with flanges, and a resonator made as a cavity in the metal housing and having an electrodynamic connection with a section of a rectangular waveguide through a coupling element in the form of a slot located on the wide wall of a section of a rectangular waveguide perpendicular to its ribs, as well as a tuning piston inserted into the filter by means of a bushing from the side of the wide wall of a section of a rectangular waveguide and connected to the bushing using a threaded connection, which is made with an additional matching part located between the threaded and tuning parts, the dimensions of which are relative to the dimensions of the tuning part is selected in such a way that a choke connection is made, and the filter housing is made up of two halves, mirror symmetrical relative to the plane passing through the middle of the wide walls of the section of the rectangular waveguide and the resonator, and connected by threaded and pin connections, characterized in that the resonator has the shape of an elliptical cylinder, the bases of which are located in the planes of the narrow walls of a section of a rectangular waveguide, while the ratio of the semi-axes of the ellipse is selected to excite a mode with two field variations along the direction of the semi-major axis of the ellipse, and the tuning piston, which adjusts the resonant frequency by changing the working volume of the resonator, is made without the possibility of changing volume of the elliptical part of the resonator.
EFFECT: increase in the quality factor, narrowing of the rejection band, high power transmission outside the rejection band, and also simplification of the filter.
