SUBSTANCE: device relates to microwave equipment, to radiation switches, modulators, resonators and frequency filters for terahertz radiation. Nanosecond waveguide semiconductor switch of terahertz radiation is formed by crossing of single-mode waveguide with supercritical waveguide, including a semiconductor plate and a mechanical frequency adjustment screw, controlled by an optical pulse supplied through the opposite end of the plate attachment point of the supercritical waveguide, wherein the semiconductor plate is fixed on the boundary of the area of intersection of two waveguides using glue inserts made from radiotransparent glue in microscopic drops.

EFFECT: high quality factor, modulation depth, power density and reduced sensitivity to manufacturing errors.
