SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and relates to a method of identifying cracks in a scanned image of a boring core barrel. Method includes obtaining an image using industrial cameras and converting the imported source image from the RGB format to the HSV colour space, recognizing the characteristics of the cracks and extracting them, image conversion to RGB format and image processing with adjustable brightness, removal of the core identification label from the image, local binarization based on the image unit and morphological processing of the images.

EFFECT: high accuracy and efficiency of detecting cracks on complex backdrops.
