FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of converting at least one haloalkyl into ethylene and propylene. Method includes the following stages: providing a stream of starting materials (1) containing at least one haloalkyl; optionally diluted with at least one diluent; providing a first catalyst composition and a second catalyst composition, wherein said second catalyst composition contains a cracking catalyst; contacting said stream of starting materials (1) with said first catalyst composition in first reaction zone (3) under first reaction conditions to obtain first stream of product (5); and subjecting at least a portion of said first product stream (5) to catalytic cracking of olefins with said second catalyst composition in second reaction zone (7) under second reaction conditions to obtain second product stream (9). Method is characterized by that it further comprises a step of steaming said first catalyst composition before step (c) and said first catalyst composition comprises at least one zeolite and a binder, wherein said at least one zeolite comprises at least one 10-member annular channel. Invention also relates to use of a catalyst composition as a first catalyst composition in said method.
EFFECT: invention provides high selectivity and high degree of conversion with respect to C3-C6 acyclic olefins.
