FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems for transmitting information over fibre-optic communication lines and can be used in existing and developed fibre-optic communication lines (FOCL). Technical result is achieved by the fact that in the method of connecting construction lengths of an optical cable into a fibre-optic communication line, attenuation values are measured in all fibres, connections of cable and hardware half-couplings included in the construction lengths of the optical cable, matrix of attenuation of fibres and connections of construction lengths of an optical cable is formed, for each version of connection of construction lengths of an optical cable into a fibre-optic communication line, a total attenuation is calculated and selecting from them that version, which provides minimum total attenuation, and then connecting building lengths of optical cable with minimum total attenuation into fibre-optic communication line.

EFFECT: reduction of losses of energy budget of fibre-optic communication line due to connection of construction lengths of an optical cable into a fibre-optic communication line with minimum total attenuation.
