FIELD: medicine; surgery; orthopedics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for treating deforming osteoarthritis of the knee joint. On an outpatient basis, under ultrasound control under local anesthesia, after aspiration of serous intra-articular fluid through the same needle, making Z-shaped movements of the needle in the plane of the joint space, introducing unpolymerised hydrogel based on carboxyalkylated chitosan derivatives, after which the needle is removed. Joint is bent at angle of 165–170 degrees and held in this position until polymerisation of the hydrogel, initiated by the patient’s own body temperature.
EFFECT: method provides reduction of pain syndrome during joint load due to formation of elastic spacer in joint cavity, which separates contacting articular surfaces of bones, provides for their unobstructed sliding relative to each other, and also absorbs pulse axial load occurring during walking or running.
