SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming, particularly, to production of shell-type parts with lengthwise ribs on outer surface. Method of making shells with longitudinal ribs on the outer surface includes placing a workpiece on a matrix, its forming by drawing through the matrix with a punch, wherein longitudinal ribs are formed from a disc-type sheet workpiece in one combined drawing operation with a diameter change factor equal to m_d=D₁/D₀, where m_d is the coefficient of diameter change, D₁ is the outer diameter of the finished shell, mm, D₀ is the diameter of the sheet workpiece in the form of a disc, mm, with a thinning coefficient equal to m_s=1-h/S, where m_s is the thinning coefficient, h is the height of the longitudinal ribs of the finished shell, mm, S is the wall thickness of the disc-type sheet workpiece, mm, and local sections along the perimeter of the working belt of the matrix are made with depressions with a depth equal to the height of the longitudinal ribs of the finished shell h, corresponding to the shape, number and dimensions of the longitudinal ribs obtained on the outer surface of the shells.
