SUBSTANCE: invention is a method of producing dihydro-iso-alpha acids or rho-iso-alpha acids, involving treatment of iso-alpha acids with a ketoreductase enzyme or a microorganism expressing a gene encoding ketoreductase, where the ketoreductase enzyme contains an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 12, SEQ ID NO: 13, SEQ ID NO: 16, SEQ ID NO: 19, SEQ ID NO: 20 and SEQ ID NO: 22, or where the keto-reductase enzyme is 99, 95, 90, 85, 80, 75 or 70 percent homologous to the keto-reductase enzyme selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 12, SEQ ID NO: 13, SEQ ID NO: 16, SEQ ID NO: 19, SEQ ID NO: 20 and SEQ ID NO: 22.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain dihydro-iso-alpha acid with high efficiency.
