SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and is a method of producing dihydro-iso-alpha acids (or rho-iso-alpha acids), involving treatment of iso-alpha acids with a keto reductase enzyme or a microorganism, expressing a gene coding keto-reductase, where the keto-reductase enzyme contains an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 80, SEQ ID NO: 104, SEQ. ID NO: 100, SEQ ID NO: 136, SEQ ID NO: 116, SEQ ID NO: 132, SEQ ID NO: 162, SEQ ID NO: 150, SEQ ID NO: 152, SEQ ID NO: 144, SEQ ID NO: 146 and SEQ ID NO: 158, or wherein keto-reductase is 99, 95, 90, 85, 80, 75 or 70 percent homologous to the keto-reductase enzyme selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 80, SEQ ID NO: 104, SEQ ID NO: 100, SEQ ID NO: 136, SEQ ID NO: 116, SEQ ID NO: 132, SEQ ID NO: 162, SEQ ID NO: 150, SEQ ID NO: 152, SEQ ID NO: 144, SEQ ID NO: 146 and SEQ ID NO: 158.
